Sue
Beach makes functional pottery using various techniques including
throwing on the potter's wheel, extruding and
hand-building.
Her wheel-thrown work is made on a kick-wheel designed and built by her
husband, Ron. She develops and mixes
her own glazes and
is continually
experimenting with
new colors & techniques. She has been making
pottery since 1998
and
currently does most of her work at her studio located in rural Delaware
County,
Indiana.
At
the Beach house, art is part of daily life. Live music played
by Sue's husband, Ron, and other musician friends; photographs and
paintings by friends and family on the walls; and in every room,
pottery. Sue's love for pottery is evident from the BeachWare
dinner plates and serving bowls in use on the table to the special
pieces displayed on the mantle in the living room. "My pottery is
meant to be used every day and enjoyed. I want my pieces to
enrich the lives of their owners and to help them realize that art is
a part of life, not simply something on display in a museum."
